Paul Oberman
August 7, 1957 – March 7, 2011
We lost Paul, tragically in a plane crash on March 7, 2011. He leaves his beloved wife Eve, the love and best friend of his life. He was a thoroughly devoted father to their children, Aaron, Melissa and Evan (Oberman) and Taylor, Brodie and Stratton (Townley). He is also survived by his father Mickey, his mother Helen, his brother Jeff and Dena Oberman. He was a loving, caring son-in-law to Eve’s mother Mary Hogarth and Jack and Joan Lewis, brother-in-law to Suzanne and Catherine Lewis, Duncan and Ann Lewis, Michelle and Mark Cassidy and Nicole Lewis and Gert Crutchley, and a loving uncle to all his many nieces and nephews.
Paul was born in Toronto on August 7, 1957. For over thirty years, he built a distinguished career in real estate development, with a particular eye and interest in sensitive, sophisticated, heritage restoration. He leaves behind a physical legacy of extraordinary buildings and a deep care about his city and every community he has served.
Paul was an adventurer. He cycled, he hiked, he read and he flew. He was the ultimate, sophisticated urbanite, but perhaps above all, he loved the quiet solitude of the family’s place in Temagami (although he always complained about the journey there). Here Paul welcomed family and friends and was the consummate host, always charming, entertaining and fun, Paul at his best. Among his many gifts, one was paramount – his sense of friendship. It was pure, sincere, steadfast and loyal. His core was warm and morally strong.
Paul will be deeply missed by all who knew him well.
